“I warned you” Bingo

If there was an “I told you so” or “I warned you this would happen” bingo game, I’d be winning several times over by now (along with a great many other people).

Just to name a few:

  • Post 9/11 “terrorism” laws being perverted to target political opponents: Bingo!
  • Citizen’s United allowing the wealthy to unfairly influence elections: Bingo!
  • Creating the Department of Homeland Security being a mistake: Bingo!
  • Turning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents against citizens and residents like a sort of home-grown gestapo: Bingo!
  • REAL ID being a problem (and still a bad idea): Bingo!
  • Surveillance tools being used against protestors: Bingo!
  • A Supreme Court appointment that was blocked/delayed solely so that a different party could make the appointment, and this becoming a terrible problem: Bingo!
  • The concept of “qualified immunity” being used as a shield for improper behavior by both police and other officials: Bingo!
  • An openly fascist, Nazi-supporting political figure turning out to be openly fascist and supportive of Nazis: Bingo!

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

No future historian is going to look back on this time and say “there was no way anyone could’ve seen this coming.” Instead, they’re going to say “it was obvious what was happening, but there was little to no action to stop it until it was far too late.”

Or, to re-use a well-known quote:

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

And believe me, there’s been a whole lot of supposedly good people doing a whole lot of nothing for far too long.

100% agree. And sadly, there's lots of others you probably left out for space reasons.
