Spam

You gotta give ’em credit for trying. Here’s a sample of some memorable spam emails I’ve noticed in the past few days. If only they knew that I am the administrator for starkeith.net..

If only my system actually sent emails like this when you change your password. But then again, what would be the use?

Dear Starkeith Member,

Your e-mail account was used to send a huge amount of unsolicited spam messages during the recent week. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and confirm the attached document so you will not run into any future problems with the online service.

If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to cancel your membership.

Virtually yours,
The Starkeith Support Team

I like the “Virtually yours” closing. Too bad that this message really aught to go back to the person who sent it. All three of these messages (received over the past 3 days) have the following source:

Received: from starkeith.net (pool-141-154-72-28.bos.east.verizon.net [141.154.72.28])

So some poor sap on Verizon’s network is sending out spam. Tsk tsk tsk. And to make matters worse, all of these messages had viruses in their attachments (which were removed by my excellent virus scanner).

Ah well, they were at least good for a laugh.
