The Progression of My Computers
Just for fun, here’s the progression of my computer(s) through the years. Of course, there is no picture of my Zenith 8088-based computer, as it only ran DOS. Likewise, I never got a picture of any screen in my 286, 386, or 486-based computers (all of which ran either DOS or Windows 3.1).

Ah, Windows 95 – this was “Home One,” the IBM Aptiva I bought for college. At the time, I thought it was a pretty sweet computer!

I seem to have lost the picture of my computer’s system properties window for Windows 98, but rest assured that I did run 98 for quite some time before (reluctantly) upgrading to ME. The computer that ran ME was Mobius, I believe – before I reformatted the whole thing for the next OS.

Windows 2000 was with me for a LONG time – 6 years, I think. The computer that ran it was the venerable old Mobius – the most reliable and long-lived computer I’ve ever had thus far in my life.

Finally, as you know, I upgraded to a new computer – and not one that I built myself. *gasp!* I know, I know, what’s a computer geek like me doing a pre-built computer – from Dell, no less? Well, the short answer is that I’m lazy – and the long answer is that I’m lazy and I just wanted something new, fast, and put together right. I’m way behind the times in terms of hardware these days – I wouldn’t have a chance of knowing how to put together a fast system anymore. What with serial ATA hard drives and 7 different flavors of RAM… it’s just too much work. And I’ve got other things to worry about – let’s not forget what I do for a living at the moment, and let me tell you, that consumes quite a bit of my mental resources. Besides, it was a good deal and it’s fast – and has a warranty; which is something I’ve never had on a computer before (well, I suppose the Aptiva had one, but still…).
So thereĀ you have it – the progression of my computers, as told by the System Properties window. Now, to play some games!
