• Monday Bunday?

I guess it’s “Monday,” and I’ve read about this thing called “Monday Bunday.” So here’s my attempt at it.

gus in the sunbeam up close

I don’t know why I’ve suddenly been so interested in sunbeams. I just like them, okay dad?

    gus's nose

    Dad, what ARE you doing?

    *sigh*

  • Inside the Bunny Temple

betsy in front of the bunny temple

Well, there it is. The other day, the “bunny temple” moved over here, and Gus’s second-favorite chair was taken away (mom said it didn’t match the room). Since then, we’ve investigated the temple a bit more, and I have to say… I approve. It’s a nice place to hide, and the wicker is quite tasty. Though I do wish it had a back door for easy escapes… maybe I can get Gus to help me make one!

  • Making Our Dinner

Saturday is the day that mom goes shopping for the week, and this Saturday I documented the process that mom and dad go through to prepare our meals for the week.

    groceries, including bunny food

This is the food that mom brings home from the store (what did she call it… oh yeah, “whole foods”).

    processing parsley

Parsley is the first thing that mom and dad take care of, because it’s pretty easy. Mmmm, makes me hungry just looking at it!

    cutting kale

Of course, Betsy and I demand that our food is washed – after all, greens can be dirty, and we are clean bunnies. So dad chops up everything (here he’s cutting the kale – our favorite!) and washes it in the sink.

    cutting up more bunny food

Mom tries to keep things exciting, so they often add other greens besides just lettuce and kale. This week it smells like arugala!

    every last bit counts

We eat a lot, so the sink really starts to fill up!

    green soup for the buns

Oh man my mouth is watering…

    adding lettuce

Here dad is adding some romaine lettuce. We don’t like that as much as the kale, but dad gets mad at us if we don’t eat all our vegetables – he says “no treats until you eat all your lettuce!” He can be stubborn at times!

    washing the greens

Here dad’s swishing the greens around to wash them.

    washing greens in the sink

    That’s quite a full sink!

    cold hands

Dad complained that the water was quite cold. Well, duh, dad, it’s winter!

    the hardware

Here dad and mum get all the hardware ready to “process the bunny food,” as they say.

    ready to rinse

We prefer our greens dry, so dad has to spin them dry with the salad spinner. It makes a lot of noise when he uses it, but I always know that dinner is coming soon when I hear it!

Mom says it’s important to use plenty of paper towels (recycled, no bleach, of course) in the containers so the food stays dry in the fridge. Otherwise, it can get soggy after a few days – and no bunny likes soggy lettuce!

    first batch of greens

    Dad begins draining the greens.

    greens in the salad spinner

    Work faster, dad! I’m hungry!

    spinning dry

    This is the noisy part.

    taking greens out

Make sure they are all drained, dad!

    adding greens to the containers

Mom bought these containers because they fit well in the fridge. Also, they have nice lids that can be sealed tight to keep our food fresh all week long.

    rinse, repeat

Dad has to repeat these steps quite a few times for all those greens.

    the results

Mmmm… dinner is served! Well, sort of. Dinner (and breakfast) for the week is ready, anyway!

two beautiful containers of bunny food

Does this qualify as “bunny pr0n?” I don’t know… but it definitely gets me excited!

This is how it looks from my point of view – just before I eat it! *chomp chomp chomp*

  • Dad’s been taking pictures… again

    typical gus

I do not approve of taking photos of me! Actually I’m just joking, I don’t mind. Just stop making that beeping sound!

    unusual snuggling

Dad laughed when he saw us. Betsy just wouldn’t get out of my way, and I wanted to lie down!

gus under the table in a sunbeam

I was just hanging out under the dining room table, enjoying a sunbeam, when dad took this photo. He held really still though, so he didn’t bother me.

    gus sunbeam portrait

Hey dad, wow! You made me look really good! Good job!

    Now give me a treat.

  • Opening Doors

This morning I had a brainstorm – what if I tried digging against the door to the bedroom? Maybe I could make a hole though it? So I tried it this morning, and wouldn’t you know it, the door just pushed right open! I was in!

Of course, mom got right out of bed and shooed me out, but I tried again a few minutes later, and it worked AGAIN! And this time nobody chased me out of the bedroom!

This is a major breakthrough. Now I can get in there whenever I want, and when mom and dad oversleep and don’t give us treats (or breakfast) on time, I can go in and wake them up. YES!

  • Broke a Nail!

Yesterday, dad grabbed Betsy and I and gave us a serious brushing. I heard mom say to him that she thought we looked “homeless” and that’s why we needed to be brushed. OK, so I guess my fur was getting a little ruffled here and there, but homless? C’mon, mom.

As I was being groomed by dad, I got… a little scared and fell of the table where he was brushing me. In the fall, one of my toenails on my left front paw broke. It wasn’t too bad, I’ve broken nails before, but when dad found it he got all worked up. Must’ve been the blood that he saw. Sometimes I think he worries too much about me!

After mom calmed him down, I sat in the corner for a while and licked my paw until the bleeding stopped, and it’s quite all right now, just a little sore sometimes. Really, dad, I’m OK!

  • It’s All About Me

After all, I am the “top bun” in this house!

    gus slinks forward

Dad always thinks I’m up to something. He’s usually right – but I won’t say what I was sneaking around for!

    i see you

I can hear your camera beep when it focuses, dad, and it annoys me. I’m trying to sleep here!

    bunny flop gus

The other day it snowed here, and dad was also sick, so he stayed on the couch all day. So Betsy and I stayed with him all day. Still, somehow, at the end of the day, I was tired, too! Can’t a bunny take a flop without someone trying to take a picture? I mean, really, dad!

  • Bunny Temple

This weekend, this new thing showed up in the living room:

    new bunny temple

Eventually I snuck up to it and went inside. It’s made of wicker, and seems like it might make a good hiding place – if it weren’t for the fact that there’s only one way out (you could get cornered).

And I honestly have no idea what that pink fuzzy thing is on top there.

    bunny temple

Gus said that dad bought it from “IKEA” and that he calls it the “bunny temple.” Gus and I remain skeptical.

  • Bunnies and Computers

Dad found this video over at My House Rabbit’s Blog. It’s about some rabbits showing their owner how to use the computer (specifically, Word 2007 – it’s an ad, of course). Still, dad thought it was funny.

Honestly, I don’t know what the novelty is – obviously Betsy and I know how to use the computer quite well.

I like the bit at the end where the rabbits say they are going to play XBox. (Though, personally, I prefer PlayStation.)

  • Dad’s Camera

Dad’s always trying to take photos of us.

    gus in your face

    It doesn’t always work.

Especially with Betsy – she’s always lurking in the dark somewhere.

    black and white betsy

Sometimes he uses it for catching photographic evidence of our rampages. Or, well, Betsy’s rampages, anyway.

betsy relaxes after her destructive rampage

As for me – I don’t mind as long as he lets me sleep.
