• Oh No, not… THE VET!!!

I just heard dad make an appointment for Betsy and I to “board” at the vet for the week when he and mum will be out-of-town.

I don’t like the sound of that!!

It’s bad enough to go to the vet for a little while, never mind staying there for a whole WEEK!

I asked dad if we could stay home instead, but he said that smart as we are, we still would need someone to feed us. I said “what if I found someone to come feed us” and he said “if you can find someone trustworthy, then OK, you can stay home instead of going to the vet.”

So… I’m asking any other buns out there… if you know of a good rabbit-sitter somewhere in… let me see… what did dad call this place… hmmm… “Morris” or “Union” counties in New Jersey… that could come and bunny-sit us, let me know!! I don’t want to go to the vet!!

  • Remodelling

It’s hard work. (Sorry about the out-of-focus movie; dad is obviously not a filmmaker!)

The remodelling is actually coming along nicely… we’ve cleared a few new paths through the inside, and I can stretch out by the back now without hitting these annoying holes.

Like Betsy, I wonder what size rabbit these holes were originally designed for. I’m a (very healthy) 7 lbs – no small bunny! – and Betsy’s nearly the same size (a little smaller). I wonder how big other buns are?

  • Our New Castle Thing

I’m not sure if I like this new castle/maze thing dad put in our space. It’s a little too cramped. Don’t people realize we’re big buns? I’m no mini-lop, after all!

But, it’s OK… I’ve already chewed away the base of one of the internal “doors” so that I can stretch out when I lay down inside. I’m working on some of the external doors.

Last night, dad came out and told me to be quiet, though… something about the loud chomping of cardboard at 1am that didn’t sit well with him. Well, I was getting tired anyway, so I stopped a little bit after that.

The holes are bit smaller than I’d like as well – it’s hard to get up onto the second level. I’ll have to do some “remodeling” there as well.

    So much work to do!

  • Oh My

Dad made a lot of noise yesterday evening… I heard tearing noises and all sorts of weird noises. So naturally, once the noise stopped, I came out to take a look and – Oh my… what is THIS???

    new bunny castle

That’s… really big… and… what are those holes?

    new bunny castle (ground level)

Doors, maybe? Oh my, I’m going to have to get Betsy to come out and help me sniff this new thing thouroughly. Then we’ll have to chew it to make sure it’s OK.

Oh, are those new toys on the ground, too?

    Dad, what have you done!

I will let you all know more once Betsy and I are done… investigating.

  • Big, Sharp, Pointy Teeth

I was hard at work this morning. Dad said that maybe I have “anger issues.”

I don’t know what he’s talking about. It’s just normal bunny behavior!

Dad always used to joke about me and my “big, sharp, pointy teeth.” I guess I showed him! Or… maybe I showed him too much?

It’s OK dad, I won’t bite you… as long as you give me a treat!

    -Gus

  • OK, dad, you can pet me

I don’t allow it often… but I guess it’s OK just this once.

    Mmmm… that’s nice… hey, wait, why’d you stop??

Errr, I mean… don’t ever touch me again!

  • Dad’s Litter Box

Mum and dad have their own litter box, of course – but it’s not really a box like ours, it’s a whole other room. Strangely, it has that slippery tile floor – I don’t know how they stand it.

Sometimes when dad goes into his litter box, I like to sit outside and wait for him. Sometimes I’ll even poke my head in just to make sure he’s OK.

    I’m so thoughtful.

  • Breakout

Last night, Betsy and I finally broke out of the bunny prison dad’s been putting us into every night for… well a really long time now. Betsy found the weak point – the little twist-tie dad used to secure the jail walls wasn’t twisted on very tight last night… and once we got that off, it was easy to nudge the doors open (we’re very strong).

While it was nice to be out, unfortunately Betsy couldn’t resist the temptation to go into the bedroom. I think dad has a 6th sense for when there are bunnies in his bedroom, because he woke right up – and so did mum. So we were busted.

    Bummer.

So we were chased back into our enclosure and locked up tighter.

Ah well, at least we got to run around for a little while… still, I wish we weren’t locked up every night, but dad says he can’t trust us not to destroy things at night. At least he wasn’t mad at us for breaking out – just surprised.

Next time we’ll have to remember to avoid the bedroom… then the rest of the house will be ours!

  • I Like My Litter Box

gus really likes his litter box

What can I say? Sometimes I just really like to lie down in the litter box.

As you might have guessed, dad cleaned it today, so it was nice clean fresh litter. Mmmm.

    smooshed betsy

Betsy just prefers to lay on the rug. Dad says Betsy looks “smooshed.” Didn’t I mention before that we buns are very flexible?

  • Yin-Yang Buns?

    yin-yang bunnies?

Dad said we looked like “yin-yang” bunnies. I don’t know what he’s talking about, we’re just laying nose-to-bum. In the middle of the livingroom.

No, dad, we’re not weird… we have a perfectly good reason for laying in the middle of the livingroom… ummm… and… I’ll think of it later!
