• I’m not Hungry, Dad

The night before last I wasn’t very hungry when dad put out dinner, so I didn’t go over and eat anything.

This turned out to be a big mistake.

Dad and mum fretted for a while and then picked me up and syringe-fed me that nasty “critical care” stuff and rubbed my tummy. Ugh! I was so mad I started chewing on the towel they put me on!

Eventually they put me back down. They said that I need to eat or else I’ll get sick. I guess I’d better at least take a token bite of my dinner every night, in case they do this again. Geez!!!

  • Letter to our Auntie

Dad and mum are planning to go away later this year, when mum’s parents visit from someplace called “Australia.”

Normally dad makes arrangements for someone to take care of us when they go away (not that they go away often – I disapprove of them leaving) but this time we decided to take the initiative!

    Dear Auntie Julie,

Mum and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa are thinking about going away to Maryland and DC for a weekend. It’s Grandma and Grandpa’s first time over here, so mum thought it would be fun. Normally Mum and Dad take us with them when they go away, but we don’t want to see the Washington Monument. Maybe if it was the Carrot Monument. Yum, carrots…

When we can’t go with them, they take us to board at the vet, like what they are doing when they go to Niagara Falls the following week with Grandma and Grandpa. But we didn’t like this idea, we hate the vet – if we had opposable thumbs we would kill her and take her treats.

But we digress, we told Mum and Dad that since its just for Friday and Saturday night, why don’t they just leave us at home?

That would be OK. We like it here at home. There is plenty of stuff for us to do, like chew the carpet or scratch up Mum’s brand new hand painted imported side-table (check us out in it below, we call it our Temple of Doom). Mum said we would be OK with pellets and hay, but Dad is all worried that we will miss our daily greens and treats. So we were wondering if you could come visit us just once over the weekend, maybe Saturday afternoon – and put out some fresh veggies for us. And treats. Don’t forget the treats. Lots of them. Treats. Mmmmmm. Actually, if you just want to give us just treats and no greens, that’s OK too.

We won’t bother you when you come visit, we will likely be sleeping and look at you with disdain and indifference. We may even leave you some poops as a thank you.

    Love Gus and Betsy

    what are you looking at

    I think we’ll get a good response… don’t you?

  • New Bunny Castle

Dad and mum built us a new castle to play in – I guess they figured Betsy and I had chewed the old box so much that it wasn’t structurally sound anymore.

    new bunny castle

They went all out this time, it seems!

new bunny castle - ground level

I dunno… two levels? Maybe it’ll be fun… but we’ll have to properly dissaprove of it first, lest mum and dad think that we appreciate something they’ve done for us.

  • Actually, I am perfectly comfortable

Dad doesn’t understand why I lie next to the bars of our enclosure. He says it looks uncomfortable.

    betsy up against the fence

    No, it’s not bad.

Though it does ruffle my fur a bit.

I like my water bowl too.

Dad just doesn’t understand. Oh well!

  • New Addition

We made a new addition to our box, with a little help from Dad to clean it up.

    sunroof

It’s fun to poke your head through the hole! Sometimes we like to climb up through it and onto the roof – although having the hole there makes it a little less stable. I guess we should’ve thought of that before we chewed the hole, huh?

  • Monday Bunday – Pancake Bunnies

Dad wonders sometimes if bunnies have bones.

    pancake bunnies

Well, yes, but we are very flexible.

  • We’re Out!

Mummy let us out this morning – finally! I was getting SO BORED being cooped up in that area. Betsy and I did a bunch of binkies!

Still, we didn’t get our morning treats – so I guess mum hasn’t totally forgiven us yet. Dad says we’re on “probation.” So we’ve got to watch ourselves.

Dad also said that when he goes out to the carpet store today, we might be put back under lockdown, because he said he can’t trust us anymore.

    Bummer.

I guess I’d better make an effort to soften them up by looking extra cute… maybe I’ll jump up on the couch and say “hi” to mummy? She’ll like that, right?

    -Gus

  • Lockdown

Gus and I are in “lockdown” a.k.a. “bunny prison” because we chewed something we weren’t supposed to. We kind of made a big hole… dad was not impressed. Mummy is really dissapointed with us.

Dad says we’re in lockdown “until we’ve learned our lesson,” so if you don’t hear from us for a while, that’s why.

  • Cheering Up Mummy

I found a better way to cheer up mummy – better than being picked up, anyway.

    bunny message

Gus says that as an added bonus, it’s a great way to get across the IMPORTANT message that we need MORE TREATS.
