{"id":6351,"date":"2025-04-05T12:12:42","date_gmt":"2025-04-05T16:12:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.starkeith.net\/coredump\/?p=6351"},"modified":"2025-04-05T12:12:44","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T16:12:44","slug":"thanks-for-nothing-for-your-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.starkeith.net\/coredump\/2025\/04\/05\/thanks-for-nothing-for-your-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanks for nothing for your service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What ever happened to &#8220;support the troops?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It wasn&#8217;t that long ago that politicians (especially conservatives) used to fall over themselves to thank people for their service in the military, to shout loudly &amp; often that you should &#8220;support the troops&#8221; and point to how much they themselves &#8220;support the troops.&#8221; You used to see &#8220;welcome home&#8221; banners on bridges over highways for returning service members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if you died in the line of duty you were honored and hailed as a hero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now though, you&#8217;re just &#8220;ha ha, looser&#8221; and don&#8217;t interrupt my golf game when they bring your lifeless corpse back into the country. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Support the troops!
