{"id":2832,"date":"2009-10-12T07:54:06","date_gmt":"2009-10-12T11:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.starkeith.net\/coredump\/?p=2832"},"modified":"2009-10-09T08:04:44","modified_gmt":"2009-10-09T12:04:44","slug":"all-i-want-in-a-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.starkeith.net\/coredump\/2009\/10\/12\/all-i-want-in-a-state\/","title":{"rendered":"All I Want in a State&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All I want from a state (as in, the state I live in) is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To not be taxed into oblivion (I know I&#8217;ll never get away from taxes entirely, so just&#8230; take it easy on me, OK?);<\/li>\n<li>To have a reasonably efficient state government (i.e., to not have to go into a 1960&#8217;s era building with insufficient parking and fill out forms in triplicate on <em>carbon paper<\/em> with a No. 2 pencil just to get the license plate for my car);<\/li>\n<li>To be reasonably easy for people to exercise their <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\">2nd amendment rights<\/a> (that is, don&#8217;t make it so I have to apply to the chief of police for <em>permission to apply for permission<\/em> to own a gun, have 6 personal references, provide a DNA sample, and an affidavit from my 3rd grade teacher attesting as to how often I used to play &#8220;cops and robbers&#8221; at recess); and most importantly,<\/li>\n<li>The right to own (and better yet, carry in public) a <em>sharpened 26 inch samurai sword<\/em>.
