Update: The Trip So Far

Sorry for the lapse in posting there - but our old friend, Jet Lag caught up with me in a bad way. Ouchie!
I’ve finally adjusted to the climate down here - at first, it was like my body just couldn’t believe that it was so hot, like it still thought “it’s winter, I should be cold.” So the first few days I went around in 100 degree (F) weather wearing a sweatshirt. And jeans. Yeah.
But now I’m adjusted, and the weather is beautiful. A sunny 27 degrees celsius - or 80 degrees fahrenheit, as we would say back home. I’ve been all over the place - up to the Barossa Valley to visit wineries (I picked up a nice bottle of Tawny Port there), down to Port Elliot to visit the beach (didn’t go swimming, but did have some absolutely lovely fish & chips), into the city to go the central markets, the botanic gardens, and to see a movie (the latest Bond movie - I highly recommend it), and down to Glenelg to visit a friend of Amanda’s (Glenelg is a nice resort/beach type place).
I’ve also come across some rather strange things - which will explain why there are no pictures for this post. Apparently, DSL usage down here isn’t just a flat rate for a flat connection speed… instead, you pay a certain amount for a certain allotment of bandwidth (say, 1GB), and when you run over that amount, your connection speed is throttled back to 64 kilobits/sec. YIKES! Unfortunately, I learned this after I downloaded some rather large video files to show people here. So I’m conserving bandwith at the moment - which means no pictures. Sorry! I’ll post them all when I get back (and boy oh boy are there a LOT of them).
I will try to keep to a schedule of updates here for the remainder of my trip, but I can’t promise anything. Anyway, that’s all for now!
