We’re Out!

August 16th, 2008

Mummy let us out this morning - finally! I was getting SO BORED being cooped up in that area. Betsy and I did a bunch of binkies!

Still, we didn’t get our morning treats - so I guess mum hasn’t totally forgiven us yet. Dad says we’re on “probation.” So we’ve got to watch ourselves.

Dad also said that when he goes out to the carpet store today, we might be put back under lockdown, because he said he can’t trust us anymore.

Bummer.

I guess I’d better make an effort to soften them up by looking extra cute… maybe I’ll jump up on the couch and say “hi” to mummy? She’ll like that, right?

Lockdown

August 14th, 2008

Gus and I are in “lockdown” a.k.a. “bunny prison” because we chewed something we weren’t supposed to. We kind of made a big hole… dad was not impressed. Mummy is really dissapointed with us.

Dad says we’re in lockdown “until we’ve learned our lesson,” so if you don’t hear from us for a while, that’s why.

Cheering Up Mummy

August 12th, 2008

I found a better way to cheer up mummy - better than being picked up, anyway.

Gus says that as an added bonus, it’s a great way to get across the IMPORTANT message that we need MORE TREATS.

Dad Cleaned Again

August 12th, 2008

He’s always cleaning up our fur… food… hay… and other stuff we leave lying around. Which just means we get to have more fun making the mess all over again!

Also: we got a new box! I’m not sure about this one. It’s kind of… low?

It’s My Desk Now, Dad

August 11th, 2008

The other morning, dad got up to get a coffee. When he came back, this is what he found:

gus under dad's desk

Sorry, dad. I’m not budging.

gus is under dad's desk

It’s MY desk now. You may sit there only if you promise not to disturb me.

To his credit, he did sit down very carefully and avoided putting his feet near me.

Oh, and in case you were wondering - all those wires are too high for me to reach - they’re just barely out of reach, too. Though that bothers Betsy more than me - she’s the one who likes to munch on wires, not me.

An Escape Gone Wrong

August 6th, 2008

When mummy gets sad, she sometimes says “I want a bunny,” after which dad heaves a big sigh and then chases us around the house until he catches us, picks us up (!!!) and puts us in mummy’s lap, where she pets us for a while.

Last night, this happened again. Gus was the first to be grabbed, and then it was my turn. After a while, I just didn’t want to be held anymore, so I tried to climb away from mummy.

My escape plan didn’t go well.

Ummm… how do I get down from here?

betsy on top of (and slightly behind) the couch

This is not good.

I guess it’s an improvement - I’m not being held. But it’s tough to get your footing up there!

Eventually I did get down.

Note to self: climbing up on mummy doesn’t work well.

Though it was fun to be on the couch!

Rabbits In History

August 4th, 2008

Mum and dad went to someplace called the “Metropolitan Museum of Art” this weekend.

Dad said we couldn’t come along because our constant disapproval would’ve shattered the sculptures and set the old paintings on fire.

He’s no fun.

egyptian bunny

Above: Forget cats, the Egyptians apparently also thought rather highly of rabbits.

Quite possibly the earliest depiction of “rabbit dissaproval” as well.

Is that a bird or a rabbit?

Oh, it’s a “rabbit running in field.” If you ask me, I would’ve titled it “rabbit giving you the foot-flick.”

japanese bunnies

Whoah! Those are some tough looking bunnies! (Is that bottom one holding a lizard in its mouth? Ewww!) The top one looks like he’s about to charge! This is undoubtedly the last work by this artist, as he didn’t survive the encounter with such vicious rabbits.

So, there you have some of the best selections of rabbit art throughout the ages.

I, of course, completely dissaprove.

Exploring the Dining Room (Again)

August 2nd, 2008

It’s just a fun place to be!

Until dad shows up with his camera.

gus looks into the camera

Dad, what ARE you doing?

Betsy wonders the same thing, but from a safe distance.

Watch out Betsy - dad’s watching!

Time to settle down for a bit. Maybe dad will leave us alone if we just sit really still.

Yep, it worked!

Dad’s So Weird

August 1st, 2008

Every morning, when dad first comes out, he says hi to us. But he doesn’t say it normal - he does his best Chou Chou impression and says:

“Good morning, ladies, you got yourself a cup of java?”

I hate to break it to you, dad, but you’re not on Coffee with Chou.

Weirdo.
