This timeline details both the beginnings of civilization on the planet
Keithia, and a more detailed timeline of events after the Federation of Keith
was formed. The timeline is marked in Keithian Years, which are 360 Keithian
days long - each Keithian day is exactly 24 hours long, and Keithian hours
correspond to Earth hours exactly.
The Keithian dating system (before the adoption of the
Stardate calendar, which here is abbreviated as "SD" and only
the year is listed) was based on the foundation of the Ancient Keithian
Civilization. The foundation of this civilization is considered the beginning
of a modern timekeeping system, and thus is marked as "AD" for
"after dates." Times before this are only rough estimates, and
are marked as "BD" or "before dates."

|
Keithia is
attacked by a race of beings from another universe, nicknamed the
"moon zappers" by the Ancient Keithians (who associated
the beings with the moon). The moon zappers are banished by a vast
pooling of magical power; after this point magic fades in the Keithian
people; the Ancient Keithian Civilization begins a rapid collapse. |
| 3000 AD |
|
Magical bloodlines lost; science
and reason become new standards. Ancient Keithian Civilization officially
"dead." |

|
Keithia enters "fission"
age. |
| 3428 AD |
|
The first perminant space station is constructed
in Keithian orbit. It is used as a launching point for missions to
the Keithian moon, where there are plans to construct an off-world
base. Construction on several more space stations begins immediately. |
| 3431 AD |
|
The principles behind the "gravitonic"
drive system are worked out by Keithian scientists. New spacecraft
are outfitted with the new drive (which is surprisingly simple in
construction, because it uses no moving parts) and are able to reach
speeds of up to 30% of the speed of light. |
| 3439 AD |
|
First colony established on the planet
Agez in the Keithian system. It is the first perminant settlement
established on another planet. Within 20 years, the population on
Agez will have reached 5 million, with 3 different "cities"
buried just below the airless surface. |
| 3452 AD |
|
Scientific revolution occurs - principles
of inter-stellar flight and supra-light travel are worked out by Keithian
scientists. Additionally, the technology which makes "disruptor"
style weapons possible is developed as a side-effect of this research.
Portions of the population become concerned about the implications
of this new technology. |
| 3465 AD |
|
First Keithian craft to exceed the speed
of light is test flown - it travels 1/3 of a light-year away from
Keithia before turning around and coming back. The entire trip takes
just a few hours. This development opens the door to inter-stellar
travel.
Additionally, at this time the Keithian population has effectively
exploded - the number of people living off-world (not on the planet
Keithia) is nearly 50% of the population of Keithia before space colinization
began (in 3428 AD). |
| 3471 AD |
|
Nano-technology reaches a
major milestone when Keithian scientists successfully "enhance"
a test subject. The technology of biological enhancement promises
to provide extended lifespans to all people, and to help prevent disease
and death due to accidents. Widely differing opinions on these developments
stirs up resentment in certain portions of the population - especially
those who have been living off-world. This resentment eventually boils
over into hostilities near the end of the year, which begins the conflict
which will later become known as the "7 Year War". |
| 3478 AD |
|
7 Year War ends thanks to
the military and political advise of a Keithian known as "Keith."
His diplomatic negotiations pave the way for a new system of government
- one that will not just encompass the planet Keithia, but all planets.
With the adoption of the new regulations proposed by Keith, the Federation
of Keith officially comes into existance. |
| 3480 AD |
|
Stardate calendar adopted. |

The first criminal case to
be decided with the help of a specialized computer is completed. The
computer program overturned the jury's decision of "guilty",
siting evidence and circumstances that had been missed, even by the
detailed examination of the prosecution and defense. During the next
400 years, specialized "legal" computers are developed and
used to "fact-check" decisions made by jurys in certain
cases (such as murder). The techniques used to program a computer
to understand evidence and Federation regulations forms the foundation
for what will eventually lead to the creation of the HAL computer
core. |

The first iteration of the
StarKeith InfoNet is created and activated. The first series of semi-intelligent
computer systems is created by the Keithian Scientific Division. These
computers are installed on all new starships and space stations, to
help with data processing and the operation of the ship itself. |

|
TeeVee Treaty established,
new Federation borders esablished, Matthew Empire crushed. A period
of relative peace follows, as the Federation diverts its resources
to populating the vast amount of space it accquired during the war. |

The HAL computer core is constructed,
it is named the HAL 100 Series Computer Core. It is considered the
first truly "self-aware" computer program ever made. Roughly
each year for the following 100 years, it is upgraded to a subsequent
series; i.e. the HAL 200 series, the HAL 300 series, etc. Technology
from the HAL system is used to upgrade other computer systems, such
as those made by the Keithian Scientific Division and by Vigil Computer
Systems. |

A strange temporal anomaly
appears near the Keith-2 system, and within weeks alien ships begin
emerging from the anomaly. Despite attempts at peaceful contact, the
aliens begin attacking Federation planets and StarKeith space stations.
The Federation Council declares war on the aliens, and StarKeith takes
steps to prevent further incursions. By the end of the year, the alien
race has been eliminated, and the temporal anomaly has vanished. As
a result of this incursion, StarKeith begins building additional fortifications
for the core words of the Federation; namely, the planets Keithia,
Keith-2, and Keith-3. |
| SD 2480
|
|
The Sol system is discovered
and mapped. The Federation Council makes the decision not to contact
this systems civilization yet, due to their under-developed civilization
and vast distance from Federation space. |
| SD 3849 |
|
First Super Star Destroyer
produced by Keithian Shipbuilding Company. This marks the beginning
of a new philosophy in shipbuilding - namely, that of very large,
very powerful starships. |
| SD 3977 |

First "hyperpoint"
external propulsion system built and tested. This new system allows
for smaller ships to make longer interstellar trips, at speeds formerly
believed to be impossible for ships without a full-sized hyper-drive
system. |

StarKeith begins building
the E-Vac series of ships and hiding them across Federation space.
These ships are to be used in the event of a catastrophic emergency
in which the Federation must be evacuated. Plans are laid to move
to one of several different galactic regions, including the Large
and Small Magellanic clouds, and the Andromeda galaxy. The E-Vac ships
contain the fastest hyper-drive systems known to Federation science,
and employ dangerous, but powerful engine systems which draw energy
from other dimensions. These engines have no effective range limitation,
and as they are planetoid size ships, each one can carry the entire
population of a planet on board, with provisions to last several generations
if needed.
The Federation Council, as well as the StarKeith
Council of Action, realize that with nearly a third of the galaxy
under Federation control, the possibility exists of encountering
a technically advanced enemy who may be hostile, and thus provisions
are made in the event of such an occurrence. |
| SD 4491 |
|
A StarKeith Deep Space Stellar
Vehicle (DSSV) encounters unknown ships in deep space. Contact is
lost with the DSSV shortly after this incident. The StarKeith Council
of Action immediately mobilizes a strike force to meet these ships
when the approach Federation Space. |
| SD 4492 |
|
The unknown alien ships finally
encounter the StarKeith strike force. Although initial attempts a
communication seemed to be successful, the alien ships eventually
opened fire on the strike force, and began moving rapidly towards
Federation space. The leader of the StarKeith Council of Action at
the time, Fleet Command Admiral Adam
Petkus, mobilizes StarKeith to defend the Federation against this
threat. |
| SD 4493 |
|
After several major interstellar
battles, the alien incursion is destroyed. It is determined that the
ships came from the Large Magellanic cloud, a satellite galaxy of
the Milky Way. Evacuation plans to this galaxy are canceled, and StarKeith
launches several more DSSVs towards this galaxy to warn of any other
approaching incursions. |
| SD 4500 |
|
The Federation celebrates
its 4500th year of existence. StarKeith celebrates its 3500th year
of existence. This same year, the long-range transporter system is
unveiled, and although "short" ranged (only 7-10 light years),
inter-planetary travel is revolutionized. A system of transporter
stations is set up on the core worlds, and additional stations are
scheduled to be built to allow travelers to reach outlying systems
via transporter rather than by ship. However, the systems energy demands
are very high (even by Keithian standards), and the Federation Council
places restrictions on the systems use. |
| SD 4503 |
|
This is the current year.
StarKeith continues to keep watch on the planet Earth in the Sol system,
and on its DSSVs, for signs of future alien incursions. The Federation
has placed restrictions on interstellar exploration in order to concentrate
the civilian population on the many "empty" planets in Federation
space. The hyperpoint system is expanding rapidly, and ships which
utilize only this system are beginning to be produced. StarKeith has
introduced a new ship design, the Frigate class, and more ships are
on the way. |
